The Genre Chosen
For my media coursework I have chosen the genre R&B because this is the type of music that I listen to so I will enjoy creating the products and the research and planning. R&B is really a popular genre within the music industry and there are a lot of popular R&B artists such as; Beyonce, Chris Brown, Ciara, Trey Songz and many more. So then people would recognize the magazine and will enjoy reading it because it's something that my target audience will enjoy. This media coursework consists of me creating 3 final products. These final products are a front page, contents page and a double page spread

Real Media Texts
Real media text known as textual analysis consist of me looking at existing magazines that relate to my genre. This is important as it enables me to understand what real music magazines look like. Also the difference between magazines, what they have that the other doesn't. This is necessary because I need to know this for when I create my final products.
Being able to know the conventions of a magazine front cover, contents page and double page spread is important because I would need to know why these conventions are being used. Also what effect they have on an audience, and I may be able to challenge these conventions, changing them into my own.

Audience Research
This is where I come up with 20 questions to ask my audience. These questions will obviously relate to my music magazine, finding out what people would like to see in the magazine. It will also help me in creating the final products because it will reflect the audience. Moodboards
I will create at least 3 moodboards which will represent the genre for my magazine, the characteristics that go with it as well. This includes pictures and logos. Profiling Your Audience
I will profile what a pause magazine reader is including; hobbies/interests, age, occupation and fashion sense. Which will help me create my magazine hopefully interesting them, adding features which could be the unique selling point of my magazine. Case Study Of A Publishing House
Researching other magazine companies that could sell my magazine. The point is to research a company that doesn't already subscribe your magazine genre. This way it will sell more because there is no other like it. |
Drafting
This section is where I will be drafting what my magazine front page, contents page and double page spread will look like. These will be seen as my mock up where I will sketch out where the image would be, masterhead, coverlines etc. Photos will also be put up including; original photos, other photos that won't be used and photos of images I have used and haven't used.
