The reason I chose this front cover is because the picture stands out the most. The mixture of low and high key lighting is effective. Vibe being the colour white was a good idea because it stands out against the background.
I chose this contents page because it is simple and neat. Although it may look a bit plain but the fact it doesn't have too much going on is a good idea.
I like double page spread because of the use of more than one image which is a good idea because it does get boring just seeing one big image. The layout of the interview is also neat.

I like this front page simply because of the masthead that fades in front of the main image. The image itself it unique and very appealing to the female audience. Looks simple but effective.
I chose this contents page because everything is in order in line with each other. The page looks neat and sufficient. The image is big so that it can be seen.
I like this because even though the writing half of it looks plain the image makes up for it. The use of colour is excellent because they compliment each other.

I like this front page because the picture is effective the fact that shes kneeling down connotes that she wants to be on the same level as us or shes just simply covering her nude body. The colour scheme is neat and tidy, everything just clicks.
I like this contents page because of the image. The long shot is really effective giving us a whole view of who the artist is. Only having one picture focuses the contents page around this artist.
I like this double page spread because of the circles around 'summer time' it does make the article look summery. Also the mise-en scene, the clothes that T.I is wearing.

I chose this front page because the picture itself is good. All the writing on Nelly's body makes it look better than as if it was just his skin. the thick lines used to separate the coverlines is a good idea
I like this contents page because the image looks like its been edited well. Again, the use one image is effect probably could connote that he is a big enough star to stand alone.
I like this image because it has two of them posing together. Whereas in most double page spread you on get one person on the other half. Again, the colour scheme works well.

For this process it is important that we have mock ups so that we illustrate what we want our magazine pages to look like. This gives us a chance to to express ourselfs as well as being creative. This is important because our work will reflect what we are all about, well most of it. So I decided to do mock ups for my front cover, content page and double page spread and within these stages there are going to be drawn mock ups and digital ones. This will give me an idea of what my magazine could eventually look like or what exactly it is going to look like.
For my front cover mock ups I decided to use photoshop and microsoft powerpoint to show the layout for my front cover. I used powerpoint because its a good way to just click through and see the different stages it goes thtough to get the final layout. Although the layout out might change but not by much. Also there are some drawings of how conventions of a magazine front cover would look like on my magazine. Also the type of shot that I am aiming to go for which is a mid shot or long shot.
For my contents page mock ups I decided to use photoshop to show how the layout for my contents page will eventually end up looking like. The boxes are put there to show where each convention of my contents page would go and hoiw it would look like. I have also done some drawings to show how my models will look like. This also allows me to be creative and develop various ideas.
For my double page spread I used photoshop to show what the double page spread will eventually look like.So the boxes are there to show where each convention would go. Although, some things may change and be moved around. There are also annotated drawings to show my idea of what it would look like in balck an white. However, because the double page spread is the complicated one because there are so much things that could be done to make it look presentable.
500 word article is where we do an interview with the chosen artist we have though about or it could be just a concert or something that was attended. I decided to do an article with an artist that is new to the music scene, so within the article it would be the artist talking about how he started, what he plans to do in the future, what artists inspire him and so on.

When and why did you start singing?
"I started singing when I was 5 years old, if it wasn't for my mum then i wouldn't have known that I have a talent. Every Sunday at church my mum use to tell me to go and sing in the choir. I was very shy because I was the youngest singer there. After chruch on Sundays my mum wil put the radio on to Choice FM and I use to hear Trey Songz, Usher, R-Kelly and Ne-yo's voice. That inspired me to get more involved in music, I thought to myself, if they can do it so can I. Music has been my passion ever since I discovered I could singm I breathe and live music. My friends started to video me singing at home, at party's and outside. They posted the videos up on youtube, and the next morning I got thousands of hits. I couldn't believe my eyes, i started swearing, jumping about. Before I knew it I got a call from 5am record lable. He said to me "Hello, is your name Reece Sayki" and I said " Yes it is, how can I help you." Then he said "I've been watching your videos on youtube and you are a really talented singer and dancer, how would you like to work with me and make you a global superstar?" I said " Are you kidding me? yes of course..." and the conversation went on from there. I will never ever forget that day, it changed my life completely, I am very thankful for everyone who has helped me and especially my mum and friends for pushing me in the right direction. Why did I start singing? I started singing because I love to sing, I wanted to make something out of myself. I wanted to prove to people that I wasn't going to be one of those typical boys, that had nothing going for them."
Do you come from a family that has a musical background?
"Yes, my dad plays the drums, so in some of my videos on youtube he is in the background playing the drums for me. My mum doesn't really but yet she wanted me to become a singer because she saw that was what I wanted to do. My brother plays the drums and the guitar, my two older sisters can sing as well. I'm very happy that I was borned into this very talented family."
Do you play any instruments?
"Yes, I can play the guitar, piano and I am currently learning how to play the drums. In some of my videos on Youtube you can see me playing the guitar and the piano."
Which famous singers did you learn from?
"Well I first remeber listening to Michael Jackson who inspired me with his dancing and voice. I thought to myself how unique is this man. His voice was out of this world and his dancing was... Well words can't explain. I then started listening to Usher, Trey Songz and Ne-yo. I loved listening to them, they represent who I am and who I want to be. My favourite song of Usher's was 'U got it bad', because he really stood out for me, he hit the right notes."
Have you performed in public before?
"Yeah, i have performed in public before several times. When ever my friends are having a party for their birthday or even just a get together I always get asked to perform. I usually perform one of my latest songs that has never been heard before which when I upload it on youtube gets thousands of hits. Performing in public always makes me feel more confident, this is important because when I get to do more important concerts and tours, I will feel even great about myself and most importantly my music."
How do you handle mistakes during performances?
"There was a time I performing at my friends birthday party and I was singing also dancing at the same time. There was a move where I had to hold the microphone at the time and do a backflip. I slipt in the process of doing that and injured my hand. To make it look like it was part of the performance, I had to add an extra dance move and everthing else just fell into place."
Do you think that you are a copycat of Michael Jackson, Usher, Trey Songz, Ne-Yo, Chris Brown?
" Noo, I don't think I am a copycat of all those artists because everyone is there own person and that is what I'm trying to be. I want to be something new, have my own swag and my own twists on things. I would never try to be someone that I am not, because that just isn't the real me. I can never be one of those artist, they're just to amazing and out of this world. No-one can ever replace Michael Jackson, he is just too amazing and too much of a unique individual. All the artists inspire me to do what I am doing now, if it was't for them setting the bar so high then we wouldn't have the music we have today."

For this stage of my coursework I had to take pictures for my front page, contents page and double page spread. I tried out different shots and angles to see how the images would look like. However not tall pictures were used in the process, only one could be used for the front page and several from the contents and double page spread. I found that taking the photos was a fun experience because I decided not to take some of them in college, outside was much better because of natural lighting.
